The ornate sculpture is illuminated from below, accentuating its lattice-patterned surface. Described by the studio as a "lighthouse", it turns the building into a landmark.

New York-based Local Projects wanted to create a bright, clean, and spacious entryway, which they achieved using large expanses of glass and light-colored materials. In the lobby, three words are carved into the floor around the twisting sculpture, representing the concept of the exhibition, which aims to pay homage to the history of the area. The word "Liberty" in Independence Hall faces the direction of the Declaration of Independence, the word "Justice" in the Constitution Center faces the direction of the US Constitution, and the word "Faith" at the entrance of the center gallery faces the Bible.

At the opening of the exhibition, visitors are given a light-emitting smart device called "The Lamp," which they can use to interact with the works and collect content that catches their eye during the course of the exhibition. These bookmarked exhibits can be accessed after the visit through an online portal on the Faith and Freedom Discovery Center website, enabling them to continue their learning. As the designers explain, the light installation acts as "a central metaphor for the institution".
