Discovering Taiwan - Permanent Exhibition at the Taiwan Museum of the National Museum
---
Of course, the value of Yulin is that it is also like a thumbnail, providing a certain search for the thirty-year history of contemporary Chinese life. Preserving documents for Yulin is the keynote of this exhibition. There have been too many reports about the exhibition. As an exhibitor and designer of the exhibition space, Ji Yi may let everyone know another intention of the exhibition from her own perspective."The predecessor of the National Taiwan Museum is the Natural history museum. In its centenary, the highly diversified design team of Huber has the honor to participate in the design of the permanent exhibition area of the museum. With limited handmade artifacts provided by the museum director and respect for this historic building, this design team composed of scientists, architects, and designers, together with the museum staff, organized the overall flow of the exhibition, connecting the various exhibits into a complete story. The overall design of the exhibition is based on the metaphor of nature, abstracting natural elements into the shapes and colors of space, arousing visitors' curiosity and inspiring infinite imagination while acquiring knowledge.

The permanent exhibition area is located on the top floor of this colonial style building, consisting of two loft exhibition areas on both sides and a central exhibition area located below the dome. Each exhibition area presents visitors with different exhibition themes through a dual display of visual and auditory elements.

中央,“台湾新视野” Central room, Taiwan’s New Scopes.
Central, "New Vision of Taiwan"
Central room, Taiwan's New Scopes
The "New Horizons of Taiwan" located in the center showcases the largest discovery ever made by the History Museum. The exhibition area uses abstract natural elements and images as brushes to depict beautiful nature, paying tribute to every specimen in the exhibition area. Each of these booths is decorated internally by natural research scholars to showcase their research results. In a white tone atmosphere, with warm winds, music, and tree shadows, the historical changes of this building over the past few decades are laid out on a thick wall.

East entrance, The Path of Discovery
On the east side, the 'Exploration Road'
East entrance, The Path of Discovery
The "Exploration Road" at the east entrance is the starting point of the exhibition area. From here, visitors will follow the early exploration of naturalists and wander in Old-growth forest in Taiwan. With the low chirping of insects and birds, visitors can learn more about Taiwan's Native species, but some of them have become extinct. The indoor exhibition area located in the center showcases the local biodiversity of Taiwan for visitors. This exhibition area presents the most precious natural ecological resources of Taiwan to all visitors.

West entrance, The Past is the Future.

West entrance, The Past is the Future
The exhibition area located on the west side introduces visitors to a deep blue marine environment. Here, fragments of indigenous remains and rare animal samples complement contemporary art works. The modern presentation of music and multimedia art allows visitors to experience the precious heritage left by nature in the experiential space created by museums, and also opens the door for us to perceive and explore new worlds.
This exhibition area tells us that only by understanding the cultural roots can we better explore the future world.
