This exhibition focuses on the unique regional characteristics of Chengdu, showcasing creators and their works from various fields in the region, including poets, musicians, artists, architects, and practitioners in the creative industry.
The exhibition invited 8 art curators and 7 architects to collaborate in designing exhibition spaces. Among them, MUDA Architecture was fortunate enough to become the exhibition designer, working together with curator Lan Qingwei and curator Shi Yizhi to create the exhibition's "Corridor" and "Jungle" sections.

Project Background
The 'Long Corridor' section was jointly created by curator Lan Qingwei and five local Chengdu artists, aiming to integrate the diverse creative states of Chengdu artists into one space. At the same time, the "Jungle" section is based on the basic worldview of Buddhism by curator Shi Yizhi, combined with the background of the Manjusri Monastery Incense Garden, using color and breath observation as the main means of expression to convey the core concept of life aesthetics.
How to organically integrate these two completely different curatorial contents into a 300 square meter exhibition space?

Curator Lan Qingwei pointed out, "Just like cross-talk performers self mockingly say 'if you can speak Mandarin, you can speak cross-talk', insiders often self mockingly say that the threshold for contemporary art is actually no threshold." He touched upon the challenges and difficulties faced by the contemporary art world. In an interview, Li Xianting put forward an interesting metaphor: "The threshold for contemporary art is very low, but its corridors are exceptionally profound

Therefore, MUDA architecture extracted the concept of "corridors" from traditional gardens. The corridor plays a role in connecting buildings along the central axis in ancient Chinese architecture, integrating internal and external spaces, architecture, and nature to form courtyards and enclosed spaces, and constructing corridor courtyard landscapes. MUDA architecture adopts a four sided wall construction, enclosing the inner and outer spaces of the corridor, forming a smooth and free plane, adding dynamics and changes to the exhibition space.

The outer corridor displays Lan Qingwei's exhibition section 'Long Corridor'. These corridors are not just simple passages, but have been transformed into spaces for interaction and contemplation through modern spatial narrative. These corridors guide the audience through the works displayed by Lan Qingwei. Each artwork invites visitors to gradually immerse themselves in slices representing Chengdu culture and art, step by step. This design allows the audience to interact and think deeply while appreciating the artwork, creating a unique exhibition experience.

As viewers delve deeper into this' long corridor ', they gradually witness the intricate and intertwined landscape of contemporary art. In the brushstrokes of different painters, amidst the contrast between reality and illusion, beneath the leisurely and ethereal surface of Chengdu, the tension of its life and the dynamic background color slowly emerge. Each artwork is like a story about Chengdu, depicting the unique temperament and cultural heritage of the city through the artists' brushstrokes and compositions. As viewers shuttle through it, it seems like they are also exploring the heartbeat of this city, feeling its unique vitality and charm.

In the "Jungle" exhibition area of MUDA's architectural design, the spatial concept integrates the concepts of aerial and free plan. Through deep reflection on tradition and modernity, we have reinterpreted the underlying fictional elements in traditional Chinese gardens, creating a multi-dimensional exhibition space for experiential learning.
This space is not just an exhibition area, but more like an artistic jungle. The audience entered it as if they had stepped into a mysterious forest, surrounded by lush trees and dense grass. The elevated design fills the entire space with a sense of hierarchy and three dimensionality, allowing visitors to experience the charm of the exhibition from different angles and heights.
In this exhibition area, visitors can freely shuttle through the forest and experience the fusion of nature and art. The exhibits are cleverly placed in various corners, blending seamlessly with the natural landscape, presenting a unique exhibition experience. This multi-dimensional design not only allows the audience to fully experience art, but also provides them with the joy of exploration and discovery.

The "Jungle" section planned by Shi Yizhi is surrounded by the center of the corridor, implying a journey into the "Jungle" where the exploration process gradually becomes intimate and introspective. The exhibition layout encourages visitors to move freely, allowing them to wander through art pieces that are physically and conceptually interconnected. This design embodies the essence of a 'free flowing plane', where the corridor serves as a boundary space and a threshold between different artistic expression fields.
Visitors shuttle through the corridors, as if exploring the unknown in an artistic journey. They can move freely, interact with exhibits, and feel the creativity and inspiration of artists. The existence of corridors connects different fields of artistic expression, allowing audiences to freely navigate through the boundaries and intersections of art, experiencing a sense of fluidity and freedom across different art forms.
This design not only provides a space to showcase artistic works, but also opens a door to the art world for the audience, allowing them to experience the charm and infinite possibilities of art through exploration and discovery.

The four walls of the "Jungle" exhibition area not only outline the boundaries of the space, but also ingeniously set various sizes of openings. These openings are not only gateways to the inner world, but also windows to vision and thought. Tourists can freely shuttle between these openings, each time entering as if stepping into a completely new field, but the overall experience is closely connected to the surrounding environment, presenting a "hidden in the city" atmosphere.

The core of the exhibition area is an elevated two-story space - the "Vision" tea room. The design inspiration for this space comes from the meditation site of Zen Buddhism, aiming to guide visitors to delve into their inner world. Here, guided by fragrance, sound, and tea hanging, people can embark on a spiritual journey, experiencing inner peace and self reflection. Visitors can choose to sit in meditation, clear their minds, or simply enjoy a moment of tranquility.

The "Zhaojian" tea room is not only a place for people to rest, but also a spiritual destination and a quiet place to reflect on the aesthetics of life. The experience in the tea room is like a metaphor for busy urban life, symbolizing the hidden cultural space in the city and the individual's desire for balance and inner peace in society. This tea room represents a facet of the city's diverse culture and has become a place for people to explore and seek meaning deep within their hearts.

In 'The Jungle', viewers can experience the atmosphere and warmth through burning incense in humble rooms, painting porcelain Buddha statues, flower arrangement, and tracing tea culture. In the interaction with friendly resident people, quietly appreciate the cycle of life, the circulation and dissipation of imprints, and slowly walk through the journey of winter, spring, summer, and autumn.

Muda Architecture integrates the concept of traditional Chinese garden corridors through the use of elevated ground floors and free planes, while deeply considering the relationship between the spatial elements of the "Corridor" and "Jungle" sections. They cleverly integrated the vastly different content of the two curators into one space, creating a unique exhibition environment. In this space, visitors' physical journey is not only about exploring art and culture, but also a complete experience from the heart to the body. Visitors interact with artworks in an environment that resonates with historical significance and modern relevance, with each step being a discovery and every corner potentially a new revelation.
